Ferry disruption halted for talks

Maritime traffic controllers are holding discussions after major disruption to cross-Channel ferries yesterday.

PORT officials who yesterday staged a strike that severely disrupted cross-Channel ferries are holding talks today.

In the meantime union leaders have called off action which saw services between Boulogne, Calais and Dover reduced to less than 50%.

Maritime traffic controllers from the two French ports are meeting with the Sustainable Development Ministry today to discuss their demands - which revolve around changes to their bonus system.

A port spokeswoman said the officials would decide whether to continue with strikes following the discussions.
