First strawberries hit market stalls
French strawberries are already on sale in the Gard – giving a taste of spring to come
THE FIRST French strawberries are already on the market – in the Gard.
Even though temperatures mean people are still having to wrap up, sunny weather has ripened the berries earlier than usual.
TF1 reporters visited the markets at Grau-du-Roi where one trader told them: “This is a sign of the coming spring and nice sunny days – and they are a local product, full of flavour, that people of all ages love to eat.”
“It’s early, but they’re very good,” one customer says. “It’s good to see; they make you think of the spring.”
