Fnac buys back old electrical items

HIGH-street chain Fnac has launched a new service offering to buy back customers' unwanted electrical items on a trial basis.

The retail group has sent emails to its loyalty card members inviting them to sell any items they no longer need, provided they are in good working condition.

According to the Nouvel Observateur, the original item does not have to have been bought in a Fnac store.

The products covered include flat-screen TVs, tablet and laptop computers, satnav devices, digital cameras, portable music devices and games consoles.

The customer services desk at each store will be responsible for assessing the price paid, but estimates are available online.

The Nouvel Observateur gives the example of an 18-month-old iPhone 3G, which would fetch about €135. Participants will receive vouchers that can be spent in any Fnac.

Last month, the group announced plans to broaden its offer to customers, with more high-street and out-of-town stores and more products.
