French state ‘at fault’ over pollution
The state has been found “at fault” for failing to take sufficient measures to reduce air pollution in two separate cases.
A mother and daughter living near the Paris Périphérique and suffering breathing problems brought the first case, the first of its kind in France. A case of three Parisian women followed.
The courts did not grant compensation, saying the link with the complainants’ health problems had not been proved.
The lawyer, who is the same in both cases, says he will appeal over compensation and has dozens of other cases lined up.
