Gendarmes launch appeal after “golden” bathtub stolen
Gendarmes in Gironde are appealing for information after a “golden” bathtub was reportedly stolen overnight.
In a slightly humorous Facebook post reflecting the rarity of the situation, the Gendarmerie de Gironde asked people to look out for a bathtub that was reportedly stolen from a local house overnight, allegedly without anything else being stolen or going missing.
The photo accompanying the post shows a standalone bathtub with a golden appearance.
A man is said to have reported the bathtub stolen yesterday afternoon, the gendarmerie said, with the caller allegedly explaining that it was made with several precious materials, which is why it was attractive to thieves, and asking the service to intervene and help search for the unusual tub.
Despite the bathtub’s appearance, however, actual gold has not been confirmed.
“We are actively looking for a bathtub,” the Facebook post from the gendarmerie said. “If you see a bathtub, let the gendarmes know, after you have looked and checked what it is made of, of course.”
“Thefts still remain very rare in inhabited houses,” the post added.
