Household confidence is on the rise in France

French households are more confident about several aspects of life than earlier this year.

The ‘Composite indicator of household confidence’ produced by national statistics body Insee saw a 2-point increase between September and October 2025. 

In particular, households felt more confident about their ability to save, unemployment levels in France, and the standard of living. 

The number of households that believe prices will climb over the next 12 months also reduced, with more people expecting stability in the price of goods and services. 

Households reached an all-time high in the perceived importance of savings, as well as recording smaller (but still noticeable increases) in their capacity to save currently and in the coming months. 

Despite this, feelings are less optimistic than average in recent years, although not as low as in 2022 and 2013. 

Some 2,000 people were asked questions as part of the data collection. You can see the full report on the Insee website here.
