It pays to check shop scales

MY WIFE and I went shopping in the local branch of a national supermarket chain. They had some good looking fresh peas so we selected a quantity and took them to the weighing/pricing machine. We had just over half a kilo but could not believe the price. We found an assistant and told her of the problem. She went to the display and saw that French beans were priced at the same amount per kilo as the peas, so she put the item through as if they were beans and amended the price ticket to explain the change.

It shows you must always check the price that these machines produce, as in the words of the computer gurus “garbage in garbage out”
