Little chance of World Cup glory
95% of people say it is unlikely that France will be lifting the football World Cup in South Africa this summer
ONLY 5% of people in France believe their national football team has what it takes to win this summer's World Cup, a poll has revealed.
According to the Ipsos survey of 1,000 people by France Soir, half of respondents think les Bleus will be eliminated at an early stage in the tournament.
Some 95% said it was unlikely that France would go all the way to lifting the cup in South Africa - after a disappointing result in Euro 2008 when the side came bottom in its group and failed to make the quarter-finals.
Women were more optimistic about the team's chances than men - 6.4% believed the win could happen, compared to 3.2% of men.
The first French match in the tournament is against Uruguay on June 11, followed by Mexico on June 17 and host nation South Africa on June 22.
