Man spends drunken night in French supermarket, €3,000 of damage

A 47-year-old man cost a supermarket in Pyrénées-Atlantiques over €3,000 when he spent a drunken night inside the store, helping himself to its produce.
At closing time on Sunday night (October 23), the man hid from staff in the Lons Géant Casino and then dined on crisps, prawns and cocktail sausages, France Bleu Béarn reports.
He also drank at least one bottle of whisky.
When the shop opened the next morning, employees found the man dozing in the clothes aisle, discovering that he had relieved himself on the display.
In addition, he had opened the packaging of six computers with the intention of stealing them.
Although he tried to run away into the toilets, he was arrested and admitted to having caused the damage inside the shop, saying that he had planned to resell the computers.
The man, who is from the outskirts of Paris and did not have a previous criminal record, will face a €100 fine and a three-month suspended prison sentence, France Bleu reports.
