Milk recalled in chemical scare
Thousands of litres of Viva and Grandlait milk have been recalled by dairy giant Candia as it can cause stomach problems
DAIRY giant Candia has recalled thousands of cartons of Viva and Grandlait milk because they could cause stomach problems.
The company – which is the number one milk producer in France – has asked customers to return litre cartons of Viva semi-skimmed milk (which comes in packs of eight) and packs of eight Viva “maxi pack éco”.
Packs of six Grandlait semi-skimmed milk should also be returned.
Candia says the milk has a bitter, chemical taste.
In all 30,000 packs produced at the company’s plant at Vienne in the Isère have been recalled.
They have been on sale in eastern France since April 14 in the following departments: Ain, Allier, Alpes de Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-Maritimes, Ardèche, Bouches-du-Rhône, Côte-d'Or, Doubs, Haute-Garonne, Isère, Jura, Loire, Haute-Loire, Haute-Marne, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle, Puy-de-Dôme, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Rhône, Haute-Saône, Saône-et-Loire, Haute-Savoie, Savoie, Var, Vaucluse, Vosges, Territoire de Belfort.
