Ministers sing in UMP youth video
Immigration, finance and budget ministers are among the politicians dancing and miming in video for UMP youth movement
A DOZEN government ministers have taken time out from running the country to dance and mime in a campaign video for the UMP party’s youth branch.
Finance minister Christine Lagarde, immigration minister Eric Besson and budget minister Eric Woerth are among the stars in the promotional clip for the Jeunes Populaires movement, which will be released online on December 11.
Other politicians taking part in the performance are UMP general secretary Xavier Bertrand; labour minister Xavier Darcos; former justice minister Rachida Dati; junior ecology minister Chantal Jouanno; family minister Nadine Morano; junior employment minister Laurent Wauquiez; higher education minister Valérie Pécresse and junior sports minister Rama Yade.
Nicolas Sarkozy is not present, but his minister in charge of economic recovery Patrick Devedjian makes an appearance, as does UMP party spokesman Frédéric Lefebvre and former prime minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin.
They are joined by musician Gilbert Montagné, former French judo champion turned Yvelines MP David Douillet and about 250 of the UMP’s young activists who attended the party’s youth conference this summer.
The clip uses a 1976 song by French-Canadian singer Luc Plamondon called "All Those Who Want To Change The World".
On the UMP youth website, the group describes the production as "dynamic and innovative".
