Monoprix recalls rice over toxin fears
Batches of basmati rice contains above-legal limits for carcinogenic aflatoxins

French supermarket chain Monoprix has recalled sachets of basmati rice amid concerns over excessive toxins.
The store has recommended customers do not eat the rice which, it has been discovered, contain aflatoxins at levels above regulatory thresholds.
These carcinogens are produced by certain moulds growing in soil, decaying vegetation, hay, and grains. They are regularly found in improperly stored staple commodities, such as rice.
The recall concerns boxes of 5 bags of 90g (450g) rice with barcode no. 3350033158276 and a Minimum Durability Date (MDD) of 25 to 26 September 2020.
Monoprix has said anyone who has bought the affected rice should return the package to the store from which it was purchased.
