Mum leaves two kids home alone
Single mother told police she “needed a break” after leaving children, aged nine and 12, for four days
A SINGLE mother left her two children home alone so she could take a long weekend break at a friend’s house, police in Périgueux, Dordogne, have said.
When questioned about her four-day absence from Friday to Monday, the woman, in her 30s, reportedly told police that she “needed a break”.
The children, aged nine and 12, bought kebabs and pizzas using money left for them, a police source said, confirming an earlier report in regional newspaper Sud Ouest.
The alarm was raised when the children returned to school on Monday and have been taken into care.
The woman was taken into custody on Wednesday and will appear in court, charged with abandoning her children, on July 2.
