National strike plan for June 24
Third industry-wide walkout so far this year as unions protest against a proposed increase in the state pension age
ANOTHER national industry-wide day of industrial action is being planned for later this month.
Six of France's biggest trade unions have jointly agreed on a June 24 protest for workers across several industries including schools, transport and other public services.
The industrial action will come six days after the government is due to submit its draft law to parliament proposing changes to the retirement system.
The unions - CGT, CFDT, CFTC, FSU, Unsa and Solidaires - said in a joint statement that raising the legal state pension age would be "unacceptable and unfair".
More details of what form the action will take - either a full strike or a series of demonstrations - will be known by mid-June.
The last walkout, on Tuesday last week, had a limited effect on schools and public transport compared with the first one on March 23.
