Not quite the cash robbery of decade
While Toni Musulin made off with €11.6m, another security worker patiently stole €9,000 in €2 coins over nine months
A SECURITY worker has been charged with stealing €9,000 from vending machines over a period of nine months -- entirely in €2 coins.
The amount is a long way from the €11.6m that turned bank robber Toni Musulin into a web celebrity earlier this month, but has caught the attention of the French national press nonetheless.
According to PressOcéan.fr, the man worked for a money transport company near Nantes and was responsible for sorting and accounting for the bags of cash emptied from vending machines.
A police source told L'Express that the 37-year-old father was experiencing financial difficulties and started taking the €2 coins to pay bills. He carried on for months without anyone noticing.
