People called Marie save Marie’s chapel
A chapel dedicated to Marie – the Virgin Mary – has been restored thanks to donations from people called Marie.
Last year, the mayor of the village Marie in the Alpes-Maritimes asked people who shared that name to donate money to help restore the Saint-Pons chapel.
Donations hit €57,000 and 1,300 people (including some who are not called Marie) participated.
The new chapel was inaugurated at the end of March.
