Police seize 150kg cannabis and €800k in cash in Var
Over 150kg of cannabis and €800,000 in cash have been seized after being discovered in a house and garden in the Var (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur).
The drugs - 155kg in total - were found in the house itself, while the cash was discovered buried in plastic bags in the garden of the property, after a dog trained to sniff out bank notes identified the source, according to reports.
Also buried in the garden were several dangerous weapons, including nine Kalashnikovs and one rifle.
Police from Toulon arrested 11 people aged 20 to 50, most of whom were already known by the authorities in connection with similar incidents.
The group included a father and son, who identified themselves as part of a larger gang.
The house, in the Var town of Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, was said to be part of a vast drug trafficking network, which police are now in the process of shutting down.
Four of the 11 people arrested are now being questioned in connection with the trafficking of opiates, and “associating with criminals and convicts".
