Record €24m win on French lottery
Player in the Val d'Oise has woken up a multi-millionaire this morning after matching all six numbers on Loto
A LOTTERY player in the Val d'Oise has woken up €24m richer this morning after becoming France's biggest single jackpot winner.
The winner, who has yet to come forward, was the only person to match all six numbers in last night's Loto draw - 10, 13, 22, 30, 45 and bonus number 1. They have 60 days to claim their prize.
There are three Loto draws each week - on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays - and the jackpot has rolled over since Friday May 13, when the operator organised a special draw offering €13m.
The €24m payout beats the previous Loto record of €19m that was won by a player in the Haute-Savoie in May 2009. A few months earlier that year, a retired couple in the Alpes-Maritimes had won €17m.
The French Loto has been running since 1976. Tickets cost €2 and the odds of matching all six numbers are in the region of 19 million to one.
The biggest-ever lottery win in France was a €100m Euromillions jackpot in 2009, which was split among 15 friends in the Bouches-du-Rhône.
