Sheep dip into world of high art
Farmers release sheep into glass pyramid at Louvre in protest at EU subsidy cuts
SHEEP dipped briefly into the Parisian art world as farmers protested against reforms to the common agricultural policy.
Bemused tourists watched on as a dozen sheep were released into the Louvre’s iconic glass pyramid, to the annoyance of museum staff.
You can watch a video of the protest here.
Members of the Peasants’ Confederation from across France had descended on Paris to protest against planned reforms to the EU’s 50-year-old agricultural policy, which they see as adversely affecting a traditional way of life.
The Confederation is demanding a policy that supports jobs, produce, farm life and the environment. They claim proposed subsidy cuts would unfairly punish small farms.
No arrests were made.
