South-east at risk of snow
There could even be snow on the Riviera today, say weather experts
THE whole south-east is at risk of snow today, forecasters say.
A snow alert has been announced in an area from the Jura to the Creuse and the Alpes-Maritimes to the Hérault. Eleven departments have been placed under orange alert.
Areas most concerned by risks of snowfall are Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, the Lozère and Aveyron, the Ardèche, the Drôme and Isère. There could be 8-15cm in low-lying areas and up to 40cm at higher altitudes.
According to weatehr forecasters Météo Consult, “we may see snow even on the Mediterranean coast between Nice and the Italian coast, though it is unlikely to stay long on the ground”.
Traffic service Bison Futé is telling people to take care if they need to travel and to stay at home if your journey is not essential. You should also make sure you are equipped in case of being stranded several hours in your vehicle.
