Support for ‘Made in France’ shelves
Poll shows supermarket shelves of French-made products are favoured as a way of boosting the economy
MORE than three-quarters of people in France support the idea of “Made in France” shelves in supermarkets.
A poll by OpinionWay, LCI and Tilder found 78% favour sections just for French products.
The view was similar regardless of the socio-economic category of the people asked.
The survey also found that half of people asked think lowering the cost of work (eg. by lowering social charges), is a priority for helping businesses be more competitive internationally.
The survey comes as sales of striped Breton “marinière” jerseys are said to have shot up after Industrial Renewal Minister Arnaud Montebourg appeared on a magazine cover sporting one and holding up a Moulinex mixer.
Along with the “Basque” beret, it is one of the stereotypes of the image of a Frenchman.
