The cost of taking a taxi in 2018

The flat-rate price of taking a taxi from Paris's main airports to the city centre has been frozen for 2018 - but other fares have increased.

The government has published minimum rates for the year, which reveals that travelling from Charles-de-Gaulle to Paris right bank is set at €50, the same price as 2017. Travelling from the same airport to the left bank is €5 more.

Fares from Nice-Côte d' Azur airport to Cannes are set at €80; to Monaco €90; and to the centre of Nice €32.

The minimum fare for a taxi journey in 2018 will be €7.10, including surcharges. The fare displayed on the counter at the start of a trip will be €4, with an additional €2.50 (€4 in Paris) for every passenger over four per journey. Drivers can also add €2 for large luggage items.

The base cost per kilometre driven is €1.07, a rate which may rise by up to 50% for rush hour journeys or those taken at night, or if a trip requires winter tyres.

Meanwhile, passengers who ask a pre-booked taxi to wait will be charged a minimum of 35,80 € an hour.
