UPDATE: Train fall girl charged
A girl aged 15 has been taken into custody after a 17-year-old lost her legs after being pushed under a train
A TEENAGE girl has been charged with attempted murder after another girl was reportedly being pushed under a rush-hour train at Yerres RER station in Essonne.
The 17-year-old victim lost her legs when she was hit by the train.
She is in intensive care in hospital where her condition is said to be grave. She was treated for two hours on the rail tracks and then airlifted to hospital, where she spent nearly 24 hours in the operating theatre.
Witnesses said she was pushed just as the train was approaching the station.
A police source said witnesses and video evidence pointed towards an argument with two girls pushing each other moments before the train arrived.
A spokesman for the SNCF said: “The young woman fell on the rails just at the moment the train came into the station."
Prosecutor Gilles Charbonnier said: “There is a huge gap between deliberately pushing someone under a train and an involuntary act, a fight which has gone wrong.”
Mr Charbonnier said they were looking at various options for the girl who was charged: a closed school, a secure school or a juvenile detention centre.
