Shoppers in France have just weeks left to use their points on certain supermarket loyalty cards before they expire.
Some 87% of people in France are signed up to at least one loyalty programme, with the average person being signed up to six, revealed a 2024 study by the Institut français d'opinion publique (Ifop) for marketing company Brevo.
Retail brands do not always clearly indicate the date by which points must be used, meaning that it is easy for shoppers to lose out on accumulated savings without realising.
This could add up to “an average of fifty euros lost per year per consumer” Michaël Flacandji, senior lecturer and head of the Strategic Marketing Master's programme at the University of Bordeaux, told Le Figaro.
We look at key dates to be aware of for French supermarket loyalty cards.
