Michelin tyres recalled across France over air pressure issue

Tyre giant Michelin has issued a product recall over recent batches of faulty tyres that can lead to a loss of stability when braking.
The tyres, in the ‘Primacy 5 Energy’ range, have an inner lining that is too thin, affecting their airtightness and eventually wearing down.
This can deflate tyres slowly without drivers noticing, leading to pressure imbalances reducing vehicle stability when turning or braking.
The tyres were sold under the ‘205/60R16 92H MICHELIN PRIMACY 5 ENERGY (CAI 847036)’ label, in the batches DOT0326 and DOT0426, between January 19 and 30 2026.
Check your tyres
You can check the DOT code on the sidewall of the tyres to see if your vehicle has been fitted with tyres from either of these batches.
If it has, you should contact the dealership from where you purchased the vehicle (for new cars) or from where you purchased the tyres (if you replaced existing tyres on a vehicle) to arrange for them to be swapped.
Until an appointment can be made, Michelin recommends regularly checking the tyre pressure and not driving if you feel the vehicle is losing stability.
More information is available on the government recall website.
Unlike with the recent Takata airbag problem, the government has not issued a ‘stop-drive’ campaign requiring vehicles to be off the road until fixed.
