Astronaut Thomas Pesquet has shared photos of Quiberon, Saint-Malo, Dinard and Brest from his second space mission, Alpha.

“We always fly over France from the west and depending on the orbit it can be the south-west, in which case we fly over Spain first, or the north-west when Brittany is the first view of France” he posted on Twitter, alongside a link to his online flickr album.

Mr Pesquet’s life as an astronaut is well documented on the image hosting service, where you can view some 7,000 of his photos in albums covering everything from spacewalk training to Alpha mission food.

The multilingual astronaut regularly shares photos and other posts from space on social media, updating his 1.2 million Twitter followers in both French and English.

He is due to complete his six-month routine mission to the International Space Station (ISS) at the end of the month.

The Alpha mission made the 43 year old, who comes from Rouen in Normandy, the first French commander of the ISS.
