Currently, the only people eligible for a third Covid-19 vaccination dose in France are those who are severely immunocompromised.
This includes people who have had an organ transplant, are undergoing chemotherapy, or are taking strong immunosuppressive medication.
This is not a complete list and if you consider yourself immunocompromised, you should consult with your doctor about receiving a third dose.
President Emmanuel Macron stated during a televised announcement on July 12 that a new campaign would be launched from the “beginning of the school year” in September, to offer another vaccine dose to those who received their first at the start of this year.
This refers to people aged over 75 and patients at risk over the age of 70.
He said that it would be possible to start making appointments from the beginning of September.
France’s Haute Autorité de santé has not yet officially approved this step, but has “taken note of the announcement”, Franceinfo reported.
The Haute Autorité de santé stated on July 16 that there is no need for the rest of the population to receive a booster dose yet.
