No warning of spraying

We live in the Charente-Maritime surrounded by vines. How refreshing to hear (website article, May 21) a mayor is trying to protect the environment and locals from poisons put into the countryside.

We have vines a few metres from our fence. In recent days we have endured spraying right up to our fence, in the mid-afternoon on windy days.

We have been confined to our house with all windows shut and our animals kept inside.

I have asked the mayor (who is a farmer) and other farmers to be more considerate but my requests have been ignored.

The farmers are a law unto themselves and do not even have the decency to give us prior warning of their intentions to spray
