Reader question: We see a lot on UK TV about organisations collecting supplies for Ukrainian refugees. Do you know of any French organisations doing this?

There is a lot of support being organised by France and around France for Ukraine.

We highlight below three ways you can find associations either to donate money to or to donate support to (such as clothes, food, etc.).

Mairies

Mairies in many communes around France are involved in collecting aid and donations to support Ukraine.

You can find all the contact details of your local mairie through this online search function. Equally, simply search the name of your town / city into google followed by the word ‘mairie’.

The Connexion found many different initiatives being organised by mairies, such as this one in Biarritz.

France Bleu’s network of initiatives

The radio network France Bleu has listed all the local initiatives (by city and department) taking place around France.

You can find their list, which they have also presented in a map, at this link.

This web article will direct you to other articles that are local to your area. There, the articles will outline all the different initiatives taking place. These articles are in French, but it hyperlinks to the relevant different organisations.

International support

Finally, you can also donate to international organisations or Ukrainian associations directly.

This web page, Support Ukraine, groups all the relevant places you can donate to.

It includes associations helping with the defence of Ukraine and those helping the people.

Organisations such as UNICEF, Save the Children and the Red Cross are among those listed here.

For independent news in English about the Ukraine situation, see the Kyiv Independent.
