Forest museum brings in visitors en route to plage

Apark to explore for its contemporary art display is the Forêt d’Art Contemporain in the Landes de Gascogne regional park.

It features 22 art pieces, like an outdoor museum within a forest.

It can take up to three days to see all the works, as they cover three of the park’s areas between the Bassin d’Arcachon and Mont-de-Marsan.

There is a map to follow but, from a huge wooden upside-down table to coloured installations and statues, it is difficult to miss them.

The art forest celebrated its 10th anniversary last year and 10 new installations are planned.

Director Lydie Palaric said: “The objective was to have a revival in this area, which people often pass by without stopping on their way to the beach or to Bordeaux.

“It allows us to bring another view through the artistic practices and brings people in to discover our remarkable natural heritage.”

The 52 communes which make up the regional park contribute to bring in pieces from different artists.
