€10 billion off niches fiscales

"Vulnerable people" and tax breaks for families will be spared in next year’s cull of niches fiscales

“VULNERABLE people” and tax breaks for families will be spared in next year’s cull of niches fiscales (schemes enabling people to reduce tax bills).

The government says it needs to cut €10 billion from the niches, after its growth forecast for 2011 proved too optimistic.

The target has been cut from 2.5% growth to two per cent.

Cutting back niches is fairer than increasing general taxation, the government says.
