€2m presidential robbery foiled

Thieves used account numbers and security codes taken from the Elysée Palace

THIEVES have attempted to steal €2 million from the presidential accounts.

Using the Elysée Palace account details and security codes, the group ordered €2m to be sent to an account in China, according to newspaper Le Canard enchaîné.

The scam was incovered when a bank employee phoned the Elysée Palace to confirm.
A police investigation has been launched.

According to Le Canard enchaîné the Agence nationale pour les chèques-vacances (ANCV) lost nearly one million euros after falling foul of a similar scam.
