4,000 suitcases stuck at airport
Charles de Gaulle airport apologises for baggage mix-up in height of summer holiday getaway
THOUSANDS of holidaymakers flew from Paris this weekend without their luggage, after a technical fault brought chaos to Charles de Gaulle airport.
An error with the baggage sorting system meant suitcases at terminals 2E and 2F were stuck in the airport building and did not make it to their respective planes in time.
The mix-up affected 4,000 suitcases for flights on Saturday morning between 10.30 and 12.30. Passengers discovered on reaching their destination that their belongings were still in Paris.
Aéroports de Paris has apologised and says the problem has since been fixed
It says passengers who have become separated from their luggage should contact their airline.
Baggage handlers at Charles de Gaulle airport are responsible for 80,000 pieces of luggage every day.
