4.2 magnitude tremor in north
Residents in Boulogne-sur-Mer, Calais and Arras felt the earthquake at 3.52 this morning
A 4.2-magnitude earthquake has been felt in the Pas-de-Calais region overnight.
The tremor originated at a depth of about 15km below Sandwich in south-east England. Residents in Boulogne-sur-Mer, Calais and Arras reported feeling the quake.
Pas-de-Calais fire and rescue centre received five phone calls from residents who were woken up when the quake occurred at 3.52 this morning.
No injuries were reported and emergency services were not called out.
In the UK, the tremor was felt in Margate, Canterbury and further north in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
