‘At source’ income tax put off by one year
‘At source’ levies of income tax will only start in 2019, not 2018, the government says – this is so as to do further trials.
Prime Minister Edouard Philippe told Le Parisien: “It is a good reform because it allows you to adjust tax collection in real time to changes in your income. However we are going to put back its introduction to January 1, 2019.”
He said this is because they need more time to evaluate the reform, which was originally planned under François Hollande.

“From July to September we are going to test it in volunteer companies and do an audit. As it’s a question of people’s money and the state’s revenue, I don’t want to commit myself to this reform without being sure that it will all work well from a technical point of view.”
He said they would use the coming year to guarantee that the scheme will be operational and simple for employers, especially for small businesses.
