Bakeries urged to offer pain-suspendu
Association in Nice calls on bakers to offer scheme similar to the well-known café suspendu

An association in Nice hopes to extend the well-known café suspendu scheme to include bread and pastries from the city's bakeries.
The café suspendu scheme allows people to buy a cup of coffee in advance for anyone less fortunate who later enters a participating cafe or restaurant.
Now, the woman who helped bring the charitable coffee idea to Nice hopes to persuade boulangeries to set up a similar scheme for bread, and also offer unsold products to those in need.
So far, four bakeries have joined the scheme - and the association behind the plan hopes to tempt more to join.
"Bakeries are being approached so that they can give unsold goods to destitute families, to the homeless," Camille Santucci told BFMTV.
Bakeries and pastry shops in Nice can volunteer by sending an email to the association.
