Brigitte Macron to return to teaching

Brigitte Macron is to return to teaching from the start of the next school year, the Elysée Palace has confirmed.

Mrs Macron, who previously taught at lycées in Amiens and Paris will give occasional French lessons at a new establishment in Clichy-sous-Bois, Seine-Saint-Denis, dedicated to education for adults who left school with no qualifications. She will also chair the school's teaching committee.

The second-chance school project for adults aged 25 to 30 has been developed by Mrs Macron and is financed by luxury products multinational LVMH. A second school is to be set up in Valence (Drôme).

The school will take 50 students from the town, aged 25 to 30 and enroll them in a range of nine-month courses in maths, English, French and history. Professional workshops will help them with interview techniques for future jobs or formulating business ideas.

Students will be paid minimum wage for the duration of the course.
