Carrefour recalls raclette cheese in France over listeria suspicion

If you have bought this product you should not consume it. You can return it to the supermarket for a refund

Raclette is popular in France, especially as a winter dish that involves melting it and pouring it over potato and cold cuts of meat

French supermarket chain Carrefour has recalled one of its raclette cheese products over suspicion of a contamination of listeria.

The product concerned are the 400g packets of “la Raclette classique”, on shelves since August 23 with the batch number 1152223102.

If you have bought this product you should not eat it. You should take the product back to the shop where you bought it with the receipt for a refund. The shop should also reimburse you without the receipt if you show them the packet.

For more information, you can contact the Carrefour helpline on 0 805 500 120, open from Monday to Saturday between 09:00 and 19:00 (normal rates apply).

Listeria poses a higher risk to pregnant women, older people and those with weakened immune systems. It can cause fever, muscle aches, headaches, stiff necks, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions.

If you are suffering from any of these symptoms, you should see a doctor immediately.
