NESTLE has called for a batch of Guigoz baby milk powder to be withdrawn from stores after a customer found metal filings in two boxes bought in Montech (Tarn-et-Garonne).

The boxes concerned were from batch 1165080622, with a use by date of December 2012 - 20,000 boxes were distributed throughout France.

According to local consumer protection officials the filings probably got into the boxes due to a manufacturing defect when the boxes were being sealed.

Nestlé, which analysed the contaminated boxes, confirmed it found “tiny” amounts of metal, but said there was no health risk. So far no baby has reported to have been ill after drinking the milk.
