Coronavirus: conflicting advice on social distancing

1.5m or 2m? It depends on whether you're British or French.

Are British sneezes twice as powerful as French ones? That is the conclusion you could draw from the conflicting Covid-19 advice from the UK and French governments.

Keep your distance

Official advice at gov.uk states that you should “keep your distance if you go out – two metres apart if possible”. However, the French government website says “to keep the disease away, stay at least a metre away from others”.

Monaco, meanwhile, where French and British citizens are among the largest population groups, opts for the middle ground. “Avoid crowds, maintain a distance of 1.5m,” says covid19.mc.
