'Dispossessed of my nationality'
Janice Gregory, who lives in La Haye de Routot, Normandy, says she became an 'orphan without nationality' after the Brexit vote, and accuses Britain of being 'small and egoistic'.

I have been dispossessed of my British nationality by recent British governments, 'punished' for living in France for more than 15 years.
Thus, denied a vote in the Brexit referendum, I now find myself thrown out of Europe with my future life in France severely complicated. Where is the 'democratic' vote when a large section of Britons are denied a voice in international affairs which concern them directly?
I would reluctantly apply for French nationality - but why? I was born in England, my dad fought in the Second World War for his country. My culture is British and I feel it's an insult to my wonderful host country France to 'use' their nationality when my own country has gone mad. In any case, lacking birth certificates for my parents, who died when I was young, I doubt I can begin to qualify for French nationality.
The Brexit vote is one of ignorance, racism, jingoism and stupidity. Little Britain has replaced the outgoing, courageous Great Britain of centuries past. Little minds refusing to accept the hard reality that years of low birth-rates has created a need for immigrants to do the low-paid jobs the few remaining British youth won't. They are too busy emigrating to the USA, Australia and Europe.
