Eurostar train breaks down
Passengers asked to postpone travel plans today after France-bound train breaks down in Channel Tunnel
EUROTUNNEL has urged passengers to postpone their travel plans today after a France-bound train from England broke down a quarter of the way into the tunnel.
In a tweet posted at 12.39pm, Eurotunnel Le Shuttle said: “Due to delays to Passenger service following a technical problem with an overhead power line, we advise customers postpone travelling today.”
The train’s 382 passengers - and four dogs - had to be evacuated after the train came to a halt at 7.30am today, about seven miles into the 30-mile tunnel.
Eurostar has had to cancel four services and warned passengers who cannot postpone their travel plans to expect significant delays.
The company said: “If travel today is non-essential you can exchange your ticket, free of charge, to another available service within the next four months.”
