Expiry warning wrongly shows on some French vaccine passes due to bug

If you use the TousAntiCovid French app you may notice that from today (February 1) your vaccine pass displays a warning stating that it will expire in the coming days - even if you have had a booster dose.

This especially affects people who have previously caught Covid and who therefore only received one initial vaccine dose before going for their booster.

If you are affected you should redownload your certificate from the Ameli website and upload it to TousAntiCovid.

It is because, until today, booster certificates displayed the label ‘Vaccination 2/2’ – as opposed to the usual 3/3 – meaning they can be mistakenly flagged up as being due a booster dose.

From today, if these people redownload their certificates from Ameli they will see that the new records make reference to ‘Vaccination 2/1’ and will therefore do away with any expiry date.

This also applies to paper certificates.

People who need to update their TousAntiCovid records should receive a message in their Ameli account explaining what to do, but they can also read more about the steps to be taken on the website.

It is also possible to go to a pharmacy or GP surgery to request a new certificate if you cannot do it online.

Anyone who only received one vaccine dose because of a previous Covid infection but who goes for their booster after today will not need to worry about the expiry date issue, as their certificate will automatically contain the ‘Vaccination 2/1’ reference.

People who did receive both initial vaccine doses (or one in the case of the Janssen vaccine) and who have gone seven months (or two in the case of Janssen) without receiving their booster will, on the other hand, see their passes expire and will need to have an additional dose to retain them.

It should be noted that from February 15, the deadline for receiving a booster dose will be shortened from seven to four months. From this date, certificates of recovery will also expire after four months rather than six.

How do I upload a certificate to TousAntiCovid?

  • Log into the Ameli vaccination certificate portal, where you will find your up-to-date records
  • Print off the certificate or download it to your phone
  • If you have printed your document, go into the TousAntiCovid app, tap ‘Scanner un QR code’ (scan a QR code) and hold your phone over the code at the top of your certificate
  • If you have downloaded the certificate to your phone there may be an option to upload it to TousAntiCovid automatically by going into the app, tapping ‘Scanner un QR code’ and then choosing to import a document from a PDF file
  • Check that the certificate is in your Carnet (wallet) and that it shows ‘Vaccination 2/1’
