Family of murdered school teacher Samuel Paty sue French ministries
They accuse French intelligence services and local education authorities of not having done enough to prevent the teacher’s 2020 murder
The family of Samuel Paty, the French school teacher murdered by a Jihadist in October 2020, is suing the ministries of education and interior for “non-assistance of a person in danger” and “non-prevention of a crime.”
They accuse the intelligence services of never having seriously considered the risk of an attack, and the Versailles education authority of not having taken sufficient protective measures.
They submitted their complaint today (April 6).

On October 16, 2020, history and geography teacher Samuel Paty, 47, was stabbed and then decapitated near his school in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines) by Abdoullakh Anzorov, a Russian refugee of Chechen origin.
Anzorov was later killed by police.
The 18-year-old accused Mr Paty of showing cartoons of Mohammed in class.
In an audio message in Russian, he claimed responsibility for the killing, congratulating himself on having "avenged the prophet".
