Official tool lets you estimate your French tax for 2025 income

Simulator can help taxpayers check what payments may be due later in year

The government tax calculator tool can help residents in their financial planning

The French government has published a calculator tool to help residents estimate the amount of tax they will  owe on 2025 income.

The declaration will be available to complete online from Thursday, April 9 and must be submitted by French residents and those who derive income from a French source, such as a French rental property.

Note however that the government simulator tool is designed for people who live in France (either Metropolitan France or the overseas departments).

It allows people to prepare, especially if their bill is likely to be large and substantially more than any payments they have already paid at source.

There are two versions of the tax tool, which are both anonymous and completely separate from making an official declaration.

The ‘simplified’ version should be used if you only need to declare income just as wages and pensions. It can also be used if claiming common tax credits such as donations to charities and childcare costs.

The ‘complete’ version can be used by those with any other forms of income such as from commercial or agricultural activities.

As a reminder, income tax bands have increased by 0.9% for this year’s declaration, in line with last year’s inflation following the passage of the 2026 budget.

Declaration deadlines have not yet been confirmed, though these are based on the department you live in and usually fall between about six to nine weeks after declarations open.
