Ferry discounts until Sunday
Ferry Fortnight sees cross-Channel operators give special offers including free kids' meals or 20% discounts
CROSS-Channel ferry operators are offering discounts and special offers until Sunday in a joint initiative aimed at promoting sea travel over rival means of transport.
Brittany Ferries, Condor Ferries, DFDS Seaways, MyFerrylink and P&O Ferries are all taking part in the UK's National Ferry Fortnight, which is now in its seventh year and organised by the industry body for the ferry sector.
The campaign is based around the idea of "ferry freedom" - that travelling by sea is a more flexible way of getting between France and the UK, with room to move around during the crossing and no luggage restrictions.
The more luxurious side of ferry travel is also being highlighted, with some operators now offering spas, fine dining and first-class lounges.
DFDS Seaways is offering buy-one-get-one-free day returns between Dover and Calais. MyFerryLink is offering a free child's meal when ordered with an adult meal onboard, and free fare upgrades.
Condor Ferries, which serves Cherbourg and Saint-Malo, is promoting a 10% discount on all crossings, while P&O is offering 20% off Dover-Calais sailings.
Special offers have to be booked before the end of this week - although travel can be taken later in the year.
