For richer, for poorer...
VILLAGERS in the Hautes- Alpes are not convinced love is blind: even more so where 42-year-old blonde Sandrine Devillard and her new husband 67-year-old Marcel Amphoux are concerned.
The pair were married to boos and hisses from the congregation who hurled insults not confetti.
Devillard is described as an estate agent and businesswoman, but Amphoux’s neighbours and tenants say she is a gold-digger as he is the largest landowner in the Serre-Chevalier ski resort village of Puy-Saint-Pierre.
When Le Parisien newspaper caught up with the happy couple on their honeymoon in Paris Devillard was furious at being cast as a “black widow” and blasted “jealous” villagers who, she said, wanted to “profit from Marcel’s vulnerability”.
The only person who is not complaining is Amphoux himself.
