France set for new US burger chain
Job advert for “passionate” manager reveals Five Guys is set to open its “first flagship restaurant in France”
FRANCE may have a reputation for fine dining, but its love of burgers is second only to America - and l’hexagone could soon welcome a new US fast food chain, it has been reported.
A job advert for a “passionate” manager for very American burger giant Five Guys to open the companies “first, flagship restaurant in France” was posted on career site Apec last week.
The new restaurant is set to open in Paris, although no opening date has been set and the company has not confirmed its expansion plans.
Five Guys has expanded rapidly in recent years. It opened its first restaurant in Virginia in 1986 and has added more than 1,000 new venues in the US since 2012.
It began expanding into Europe in 2013, when it opened the first of its restaurants in Britain. It is now hoping to take advantage of the French love of burgers.
A study published last year revealed that hamburgers "have become the dish of choice for France”. Burgers are reported to be on the menu of nearly three quarters of all restaurants in the country.
