Update 18.11pm. Normal service is expected to be resumed later this evening, June 16.
Mobile phone operator SFR is currently impacted by a massive outage, making texts and calls impossible for many on the network in France.
The outage is also affecting internet access for mobile users and broadband contract holders with the operator, meaning they cannot use the internet at their homes.
Reports of an outage started arriving around 11:00, before hundreds of users reported the network being down.
At its peak, service access information website Downdetector had over 1,000 reports of the SFR network being down from across France.
It is currently unclear what has caused the outage.
“Our technical teams are fully mobilised to restore the situation. We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” said SFR on social media.
As of 14:00, the service is still down, and there is no information about when it will return.
Widespread network outages have impacted mobile networks in France in the past. In November 2024, users of ‘Free’ across faced an outage lasting several hours in some cases.
