Revolut is expanding its presence in France, combining its new French banking licence with plans for Paris headquarters and new physical spaces aimed at customers.

The company has confirmed plans for airport lounges, is testing a physical ‘Revolut Store’ in Barcelona and is preparing to open its Western European headquarters in Paris in 2027.

It is also now preparing to move French customers to a new French banking entity following the granting of its full French banking licence.

Revolut told The Connexion that the licence will allow it to “accelerate product localisation and deepen customer relationships through closer local integration”.

What changes for French customers?

The move to the new French entity is expected to begin in the coming months once the bank is operational.

“No action is required from customers in advance and there will be no disruption to their services,” Revolut said.

The level of deposit protection will also remain the same. Eligible deposits will continue to be protected up to €100,000 per depositor.

“The key change is that this protection will move from Lithuania’s Deposit and Investment Insurance scheme to France’s Fonds de Garantie des Dépôts et de Résolution (FGDR), anchoring customers’ deposit protection within the French banking framework,” Revolut said.

The French licence also means Revolut can expand the range of banking products it offers locally, including products that were not previously available to it under its Lithuanian licence.

This is expected to include French regulated savings products such as the Livret A and LDDS, alongside other banking services.

From banking app to physical presence

Even though Revolut remains “a digital-first bank”, it is also increasingly investing in ways for customers to interact with the brand outside the app.

Its new Western European headquarters will be located at 116 rue Réaumur in Paris and is due to open in 2027. The building, however, will not operate as a traditional bank branch.

“Our new Western European headquarters ... will be a corporate hub rather than a customer-facing retail location, bringing together our teams and strengthening Revolut’s physical presence in France,” Revolut said.

Airport lounges planned across Europe

The company is also moving into the airport space. A first Revolut Lounge is planned for Copenhagen Airport in 2027, with the company hoping to introduce the concept at other major European airports.

Asked about possible locations in France including Paris Charles de Gaulle, Orly and Nice, Revolut told The Connexion: “We are exploring options in France but nothing is confirmed at this time.”

The company has not said how many lounges it ultimately plans to open or which other European countries are being considered.

The new lounges would give the brand a physical presence in places where many of its customers already use its services.

“As Revolut scales, physical touchpoints allow us to complement our digital-first model with a human layer and make the broader Revolut ecosystem tangible,” Revolut said.

“This goes beyond banking: from travel and airport experiences to sport partnerships and our growing physical presence through ATMs, Revolut is increasingly part of customers’ everyday lives,” it added.
